MAKENNA & BROCK – LIVE IN CONCERT!
Makenna & Brock first met when they were cast as Laurey and Curly in the 2007 musical theater performance of Oklahoma, where they instantly connected on and off stage and ended up becoming a permanent duo and great friends. In 2009 they began touring throughout the United States, sharing the bill with many great acts such as: James Otto, LoCash Cowboys, Uncle Kraker, and Sheryl Crow. As a duo, they have recorded and produced three CD’s and their single Keith Whitley Song has been played on country radio stations throughout the United States.
Their big break came in the summer of 2011, when they captured the hearts of tens of millions of viewers when they were selected as top 50 finalists on the American version of Simon Cowell’s hit television show, The X-Factor. Makenna and Brock were one of the last remaining country artists on the show and were critically acclaimed by some of the most renowned figures in the music industry. Those of which included, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger, and Chairman and CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group, L.A. Reid. Makenna and Brock were not only broadcast throughout the world, but they were also featured in magazines such as People, Washington Post, and Rolling Stones and featured on many eminent websites including CNN.com, CBS.com, and MTV.com.
THE CATE BROTHERS – LIVE IN CONCERT!
Don’t miss this Special THURSDAY NIGHT Concert at Branson Landing starting at 7pm in front of the fountains, featuring the amazing Cate Brothers! The Cate Brothers, identical twins Earl and Ernie, exemplify the country-style rock and roll that flourishes in the Ozark Mountains area of northwest Arkansas. Although best known for country music, the Cates added rock and roll to their approach in a distinctly unpretentious way, inheriting the legacy of some of the earliest Arkansas rockabilly performers.
The Cates were born in Fayetteville and grew up in Springdale and although not born to a musical family, the Cates taught themselves how to play and were heavily influenced during their teenage years by Hawkins, whose ever-changing band, the Hawks, was at that time composed of the personnel who eventually became famous as Bob Dylan’s backup ensemble, the Band: pianist Richard Manuel, keyboardist Garth Hudson, drummer Levon Helm, and guitarist Robbie Robertson. The Cates have remained close to the northwest Arkansas area and remain true to their musical roots in that theirs is a “country soul” unit, and they are masters of a kind of rhythmic eclecticism that is native to the cultural territory from which it emerged, bounded generationally by Bob Wills’s western swing and the Band’s blend of hillbilly simplicity and blues depth and incorporating both styles into their own music.
The Cates have earned a devoted following of their own and have continued to release albums, including Radioland (1995), Struck a Vein (1997), and Cate Brothers Band Live (1999) and to this day, they remain a well-respected regional band among their peers in the music world and have carried the northwest Arkansas style of classic rock into the twenty-first century.
